The Best Seats in the House

So yesterday My friend Hope and I went to see Tony Evans preach in a local church.  We got there and it was packed. The main room was full and the overflow room was filling up.  We were offered the overflow room but declined b/c it only showed the service on tv’s and we would have to watch Dr. Evans on a screen.  Hope didn’t come all this way from Cincinnati to watch him on a screen like she could have done on Youtube, so we decided to wait.  We decided we would even stand along the wall if need be.

“Is it ok if we just stand to the side and wait here for any available seats?” we asked the usher.  “Sure”, he said.  And people were coming back and forth, in and out, and we were there for a good 10 min.  Then we started getting antsy b/c the usher only advised most of the seats were taken.  He didn’t say all of the seats were taken.  So I start analyzing this in my head thinking, we need to do something.  We need to make something happen because people are taking our seats!  People are moving ahead of us and seats are dwindling! And Hope was thinking the same thing b/c when I voiced my thoughts she shared hers and we decided to make our move.  Just when we turned in the direction of the stage to walk forward and look for seats, the usher was heading towards us.  “You two”, he said.  “Come with me”.  And he proceeded to lead us allllll the way to the front where there were several seats available.

Now, you may consider this a small consequence.  Maybe you think we got lucky.  But as women of faith, we knew w/o a doubt, God was speaking to us.  He was saying, “I see you daughters.  I see you waiting patiently on Me.  I see you choosing not to settle.  I see you keeping your faith and waiting for My best.  And just when you feel like you can’t wait any longer.  Just when you feel like you need to take matters into your own hands, and you want to make something happen.  Guess what?!  I’ll intervene and show you, I had you the whole time.  I was preparing and making a way for you the whole time.  I was getting my promise ready for you the whole time.  I did not forget you.  You are Mine and my favor and blessings are upon you”.

He is worthy.  God is in the midst of all things.  We don’t have to be in a church to hear Him.  We don’t have to be in a pew to praise Him.  He is worthy of the praise just because we have breath!  We don’t need to receive any gifts or blessings to give Him glory.  He is glory all by Himself!  But you know what, when you are His child, you have kingdom privileges.  Yes there is warfare and pruning and sacrifice.  But there is also the joy of the Lord which I am quite frankly feeling an overabundance of today 😁. There is love and peace and a sound mind in the midst of chaos.

I was feeling really hurt just yesterday.  I was in a lot of pain and grieving some things.  But God.  He reminded me of my purpose.  He is revealing my mission.  And He is moving me along forward into the promises that are set before me.

I see now, my life is to advance His kingdom.  I kind of always knew that, I just didn’t know how it would look.  Now I’m getting to see how it looks.  Now I’m getting to see my role in His grand plan of redemption and restoration in the earth.

  1. Such a crazy God experience! The other thing that I recognize after reading your post is about the last being first. We were feeling “passed over” and that other people were taking our seats. Yet, we got more than what we were expecting. Also, it reminds me how God can make something out of nothing. NONE of those seats were set up when I was

  2. …waiting for you to get there. And while we were WAITING unbeknownst to us God was working out his plans and had something special in store for us!!!
